Who We Are

The first thing people notice about Little Hands is that we're not a typical clinical environment. Our therapists work simultaneously and collaboratively. There's a lot of social interaction. There are real life moments and connections. And everyone is having fun!

Walk for Apraxia

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it hard for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex movements that underlie speech. Apraxia Kids is the leading organization in apraxia education and support for both families and speech-language professionals worldwide. They work across all regions to build awareness so every family impacted by childhood apraxia of speech is supported.

The Walk for Apraxia is the largest fundraising and awareness event supporting children across the US and Canada affected by childhood apraxia of speech. Funds raised through the Walk for Apraxia support the programs and services of Apraxia Kids. Fundraising and donations have already helped serve families across the country, but we know there are so many more children we have yet to reach who lack the resources to find their voice. Each year we host and sponsor a local edition of this walk.

The FOXG1 Research Foundation

The FOXG1 Research Foundation is dedicated to advancing knowledge and treatments for individuals affected by FOXG1 syndrome. Their mission centers around funding scientific research to better understand the genetic and neurological aspects of the syndrome, aiming to improve diagnosis, develop therapies, and ultimately find a cure.

Additionally, the foundation provides support and resources for families and caregivers impacted by FOXG1 syndrome, fostering a community of support and advocacy. Their goal is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with FOXG1 syndrome and their families through education, research, and collaboration with healthcare professionals and researchers worldwide. We are proud to support this Foundation.

Selective Mutism Association

Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder characterized by a person’s inability to speak in certain social settings such as at school, work, or in the community. People with SM are typically able to speak comfortably and communicate well in other settings, such as at home with family.

The Selective Mutism Association provides the most comprehensive and accurate information about selective mutism to increase awareness of this disorder. Little Hands donates to this organization annually, and we are registered providers for children with selective mutism. Our Courageous Kids group is specifically designed to support this population.
